Me and my bloke went to a lovely dinner at a fancy restaurant in my town. Cozy place, good service and excellent food. We dropped by at my parents' place on the way home where we tested different kinds of whiskey.

It was all real fun and I was glad that he was acting over the moon with this modest celebration of him turning 30 this weekend.

Then we came home and he was very happy, laid down in the sofa and has been fast asleep since. It's been almost 3 hours.

I must admit, it's awfully domestic to be watching the Vancouver Olympics and browsing the internet with my man snoring in the sofa next to me. It makes me happy. I like this most-recent chapter in my life, first renting then buying an apartment, having his daughter over every other weekend and our planning to get a dog or how to spend next summer.

Chinese doing the halfpipe in snowboarding is kinda interesting. Do they do it out of interest or because their government wants snowboarding gold medalists? I imagine if they send some of their gymnastics "failures" to the mountains they'll reek havoc.

I'm sitting here at home on a Sunday afternoon in a nightgown drinking liquorice tea. My fish have been fed and my shrimp are happily munching on a salad leaf. My biggest concerns at the moment are two, what do I want to eat for dinner and whether I should start attempting to breed my bettas.

I've recently returned from spending two weeks on holidays where I left the city during that time. It was wonderful and such a great escape from my everyday life. Of course I managed to gain weight during that time but I'm back and determined to regain the nice shape I had in December last year. Ideally I want to be back at that stage next December but it might be unrealistic given how much work it took me to get there in the first place.

I moved my horse to another stable area in early June before my holidays and he's now staying outdoors. He ran off twice the first few days but now seems content staying inside the fence. I rode him in the new area for the first time yesterday when my cousin invited me to ride with her and stop at her home close by where we could grill hamburgers. My horse was amazing, he didn't bat an eyelid at her two dogs running back and forth and between the two horses. We rode into the sea and he was slightly nervous but handled it like a champion. We rode into the town and he couldn't care less.
This is the FIRST year since I got him that I feel we're both able to enjoy riding outdoors in company without being stressed out. The fact he NEVER twitched with the dogs running around amazed me so much. I finally feel we've reached a stage where I can start actually enjoying to let go a little and just enjoy the scenery and riding out. Not just riding inside arenas because that's where he's calm.
I think we've both matured and I can also tell that he enjoys the company. It also helps me relax because I know I can always ask for help if he gets bolshy.

Then my horse and my cousin's chomped down grass from her garden while we grilled hamburgers. My boyfriend also came. It was so nice. I truly enjoyed myself yesterday. :)

The boyfriend's daughter is staying with us this weekend. I was going to do some cleaning but left it at doing the dishes and some other minor things. Me and the bloke are going to need to do a second spring cleaning. He did the first after I breathed fire one Monday afternoon before I met the kid and we spent weekends seperated. Thankfully he learnt a lesson. :P

Thinking about it, it feels like quite a long time since I met his kid now. Does time fly or am I just lost in time?

I went to look at shrimp today and the guy in the fish store showed me some Taiwanese shrimp he got that are super cool. He's keeping them off the shelves and seeing how they fare, apparantly they're difficult to keep and require high heat. In a way another heater won't make a big different to me, haha! I'll see what happens. :)

I only came home with a small filter meant for a 25L shrimp tank I've ordered and should get this weekend. I've currently got my shrimp in a vase but I don't like it plus the risk of some nasty things happening is too high. I want a filter and more ground to keep plants and decorate. :)

Yesterday I did a 100% water change for my Veiltail Betta, Castro.
Today I removed some gunk from the shrimp and added more and fresher water. Then I did a 100% water change for my Crowntail Betta, Mordor.

Tomorrow I am aiming to do a partial change for my sorority. I added some guppies to the tank expecting murder and mayhem but so far they're all happy. Apart from me who is mad to watch the guppies tear up my precious HC!!! :P

I'm just sat here at home watching one of my shrimp gorge on a piece of apple. They have probably doubled in size since I got them which was this month.

I guess the algae explosion has enabled them to stuff themselves all day and night long. :P The're just eating eating eating munch munch munch. I decided to offer them the apple as variety in their diet. I want tem to grow big fat and breedable.

Now another one is discovering the apple! teehee, the one who found it first made him/her go away. I'm trying to lure them out by offering them food in one place, but when the tank is crowded with algae I guess they aren't complaining about starvation. ;)

Now I think I'll make myself a smoothie and go buy guppies. My boyfriend will probably comment on it but they'll go in the big tank. :)

Fish fish fish [Apr. 30th, 2009|11:26 am]

I am now the proud owner of 5 little fishies. :D 4 bettas (Fighting Fish) and one Pleco. It's so homey to have them swimming on the kitchen table, although the male betta started chasing the girls and got a permanent detention in his private tank for the culprit. He also got put in the laundry room, ha!

Today a really nice fish store will be getting a new shipment of bettas so I confess that I've actually been waiting this entire week for today so I can go. I'm that much of a dork these days.

I'm also about to finish reading Persepolis by Marjane Satrapi and that is one of the best things I've read for a while! It's actually a comic though but it helps portray the story. It's definitely made me think and I've also had some conversations with my boyfriend about stuff like fundamentalism and treatment of citizens. I feel very intellectual, yay!

This is probably the height of what's happening in my life these days.

1. Reply to this post and I'll assign you a letter.
2. List (and upload, if you feel like it) 5 songs that start with that letter.
3. Post them to your journal with these instructions.

I got an S from freelancer47 ! I don't know where the html brackets are on my new computer so no fancy links. :P Anyway, here's the list...

1. Starblood by Cranes
2. Sacrifice by Lisa Gerrard and Peter Bourke
3. Sour Times by Portishead
4. Stronger by Britney Spears
5. Find Another Way by Captain Hollywood Project

I don't care if the last one doesn't start with an S or even contain it cause the song rocks just too much.

I met my bloke's daughter this weekend. It went really super well. She even asked if I would stay over! It had never been mentioned to her! I feel so much relief and know things can only get better now.

I just need to have a talk about cleaning with him later on. I almost turned around on my heels when I entered the apartment this afternoon. The joys of learning to live with somebody new!

I remember how much I dissed Jilly Cooper's Riders. Yet there was something intriguing about it. I'm now thinking about ordering two other books by her, Rivals and Polo. Not so sure about Rivals but I get the feeling it's needed for Polo to make more sense. All I want is a book about sex and horses. :P

I've also got the urge to write again. My schedule's just been so cramped that I don't feel I have any creativity in me due to lack of time to think.
